- Challenge
- a business plan without an organizational design, and a leadership team to be built from scratch, while the goal was to map out the main patient journey
- For whom
- the owner and the managing director, then the 10-person team
- What you gain
- a shared purpose, vision and values, working norms for communication and conflict resolution, and a team that works in alignment from day one
- Format
- leadership development, then 3 one-day workshops with the team
The challenge
We started with a twofold challenge. The owner’s business plan did not cover the design of the organization, while in a knowledge-based business the biggest risk is exactly whether you can start with a team that works effectively towards a shared goal. The request was for service design, but the organization also had to be built from scratch: forging a leadership team of senior nurses recruited from public care, while the goal was to jointly map out the core service, the main patient journey.
What we did
After leadership development with the owner and the managing director, we worked with the 10-person team in three one-day workshops. The aim was to align service quality and team functioning before the opening.
What we worked on in the workshops
- tuning in: what I bring, what I expect
- a shared future, purpose and vision
- pride stories for a shared identity
- a value tree for everyday decisions
- communication norms and conflict resolution principles, based on the SCARF model
- Superpower map: who is strong at what, and why it matters for the team
Results
A jointly formulated purpose, vision and values, fewer misunderstandings and less friction, faster decisions, and a team preparing for the launch confidently and in alignment.
